Every black-swan event inherently presents itself with opportunities to build new categories of products and services. It fundamentally introduces experiences that never existed before. Voice AI for IoT is one such promising technology that will change the way we interact and engage with current systems and processes. However, to fully realize its potential, Voice AI cannot be seen in isolation but more holistically by leveraging the existing IT infrastructure. In this context, Speak to IoT team has partnered with Cisco, Juniper Mist AI, AiRISTA Flow, and others to offer new business solutions that impact every consumer of the modern workplace.

Voice AI focuses on the Business of What instead of Complexities of How.

As the famous phrase Voice is the New Touch goes, intuitive voice powered interfaces can extend or replace traditional touch-based interfaces. Environments where contactless (e.g. healthcare) or handsfree (e.g. industrial) interfaces harbor a lot of value, Voice AI can provide the missing piece.

For example, the Real Time Asset Location (RTLS) domain for inventory management and asset tracking is not new. Many different technologies — RFID, IR, BLE, Wi-Fi, UWB, GPS, etc. — provide the last mile support for location identification. However, if you zoom out and think from a consumer or user perspective, they have to access all this information using complex dashboards or lightweight mobile apps — involving long learning curves, training, UI/UX dependencies, development & maintenance overheads, and the dreaded “physical touch” to interact with these subsystems.

Voice AI eliminates all this mess.

Wouldn’t it be more intuitive and hygienic (especially in a hospital setting) to query for assets using natural voice? Isn’t it simpler and quicker to query one’s own mobile phone “Where can I find a wheelchair?” using natural voice and getting the super-fast response back than to finding a computer terminal, opening the location software dashboard, running the query, and then finding a wheelchair on the map? Isn’t it life-saving to identify a defibrillation kit or emergency cart a few seconds sooner with Voice AI than to resort to the archaic dashboard-centric approaches?

The video above is an example of Speak to IoT Voice AI integration with AiRISTA Flow Sofia system as explained in their blog post.

Virtual enterprise assistants are internal-facing and help organizations reduce administrative pressures (exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic) on employees by automating repeatable tasks and enabling employee self-service.

Voice AI is far more convenient than alternative human computer interaction (HCI) systems and is extremely mature to implement today. Here are some of the use cases that Voice AI can tackle very well:

  • Asset tracking in hospitals, hospitality, industrial (or any other) domains (AiRISTA Flow Sofia Demo)
  • Inventory management in schools, corporations, warehouses
  • People density and population information on college campuses, malls, public spaces (Demo with Cisco, Demo with Juniper Mist AI)
  • Senior care and assistance using PERS (Personal Emergency Response System) devices and telehealth systems (Demo Video)
  • Self-service intelligent customer assistance instead of annoying IVR (Customer Care with Voice AI)
